Boo! It’s Change.

Boo! It's Change. It is Halloween. It is a time of ghosts and goblins, witches and warlocks, and all those scarey things that go bump in the night. But for every vampire somewhere there is a silver bullet.

As frightening as the imaginations of the human mind can be, the scariest thing for most of us is change. That is the reason werewolves and monsters are so frightening. They are the idea that the normal flow of reality can suddenly alter and that strange things that have never appeared before can suddenly manifest.

There is only one universal constant, and it is change itself. All things will change in some way. If left unattended, entropy will rule. All things, from what you do, to humanity, to the solar system, to the universe itself, will seek the lowest common level. Things will change from diversified systems to a homogeneous rarefied mass of sameness. There will be no motions, no diversification, no energy emitted, for all intent and purposes a universal flat line.

As such, change is coming. It cannot be avoided. It is a part of life, a part of existence. Diversification and motion can exist only if energy is applied. That also means change. Changing things from the way they are to some other state. Things will change, one way or another. Accept entropy, and change is toward nothing. Inject energy and entropy can be staved off for a time, diversity can be maintained and enhanced, motion can be redirected.

Do not fear the spooks that may knock on your door tonight. Likewise, do not fear change. It is coming, like it or not. Oh, there is a knock at the door. Boo! It’s change.
