Thanks for My Friends

Thanks for My FriendsContinuing my desire to give thanks to things and beings during this Thanksgiving week, today I give thanks to my friends.

As an introvert, with social anxiety, making friends is difficult. Beyond that, defining them is tricky. I mused over this in a post titled ‘What is a Friend?‘ To many people it seems straight forward. To introverts it can be complicated. Are old friends that you have not seen in decades still friends, when neither of you shares any common interests? Are co-workers who you can laugh with, but not trust in, friends? The list of tiny distinctions can be long and complicated.

That said, I do have friends and I am very thankful for them. While my list of friends may be more tailored than yours, I still have a nice list of what I call friends.

I am not going to name them here for fear of upsetting someone. I might leave someone out who feels they are a friend. I might accidently forget someone. I might include someone on my list who would rather not be considered in that fashion. So I will not name names.

Know that if you consider yourself my friend, then you are. Friends are more precious than gold pressed latinum, a working Tardis, or all the tea in China. I am thankful for all of you, and thankful that you are you.
